FREE Mayfair Summer Concerts

Mark your calendar now for this Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 6pm to stop by Mayfair Park. You will be delighted to find the Denver Municipal Band performing and filling the air with music. Enjoy the music while  lounging on your picnic blanket with a basket of goodies to share with your friends and family under a beautiful Colorado sky (hopefully rain free). There will be face painting for the kiddos and a few vendors selling refreshments but you are encouraged to bring your own. Palmer Elemantary Playground Groundbreaking Ceremony

Palmer Elementary school celebrated the groundbreaking for their new Learning Landscape playground that will be ready fall of 2009. The ground breaking ceremony happened on Friday, May 22nd, 2009 at 9:00am on the existing playground behind the school. The day began with the presentation of the flag and saying the Pledge of Allegiance. The students then sang a new song written to celebrate their new playground. The song was sung to the tune, “Take me out to the ballgame”. Elizabeth Trujillo, Palmer’s principal, then introduced people who were instrumental in getting the playground approved and funded. Palmer Elementary School Video Tour

Have you ever wondered what goes on at Palmer Elementary school or what types of programs are available for the children? I spoke with Elizabeth Trujillo, Palmer’s Principal, about the programs, number of students and new projects happening at the school. While I was there I also met Lisa Kerin Welch, 2009′s PTA President, who explained the new learning landscape installation that will break ground on May 22, 2009.
