When buying a home, the first thing to be taken care of when you go under contract on a property is Earnest Money. So what is Earnest Money, exactly? The very term "Earnest" shows sellers that a buyer is earnest, or serious, about buying the home. It is a deposit to the seller showing the buyer's good faith in the transaction. It is usually in form of a personal check from the buyer and submitted within 72 hours of the acceptance on the offer.
